The Property Project is performing MENAGERIE:
 
The stage lights come onto 4 of history's most beautiful and important figures: Marilyn Monroe, Salome, Cleopatra and a Geisha girl.  Throughout the play they make their characters known to you with their dances, and one by one you see the sins they have committed in their lives, as Mea Culpa (I am guilty) plays. 
  • Cleopatra sets the stage for temptation as she dances, her song revealing that she is driven by the fires of destruction and like a snake she will lead you astray from paradise- her sins are abuse of power, lust and murder. 
  • Marilyn Monroe struts using her body for greed and gluttony and then Cleopatra (the evil temptress) offers her her ondoing, a pill bottle and a champagne glass- she dies. 
  • Salome dances the dance of the seven veils, using her flesh for envy, lust and murder, to gain the head of St John the Baptist for her mother, as she dances she sells her soul to her own devil and Cleopatra has come to claim her prize, her throat is slit and she is tied up with the very veils that she sold her soul with. 
SURPRISE!
  • Medusa crawls out from the shadows, almost as solid as a statue, guilty of Sloth and Envy, Rage and she slowly moves towards her servant Cleopatra, Medusa has been calling the shots this entire time, and now that the dirty work is done Cleopatra is of no use to her anymore, and Medusa can reign supreme. Removing a snake from her head she throws the snake at Cleopatra and thus she is dead and dethroned.....
  • the Geisha, the silent witness,  can bear the injustice no more, representing grace and purity she has come to fight Medusa, avenging the death of these women lead astray by vanity, taking the easy way into infamy confused with fame, using their bodies their flesh for power when they had power regardless.  The Geisha wins, the head of Medusa is now placed on the charger instead of St. John, and she laments the quasi-innocent dead, except Medusa, the Queen of Evil. 
OH NO! Whats that? air raid sirens go off and the dead rise up, it is a call to arms, and they stand in rank, changed into sexy army girls ready to fight!  Their power has shifted, they are in command now, and they dont need men to manipulate, one by one the Czarina points recruits out of the audience during the siren and Revellie, bringing these new strong army women on stage to join their ranks.  Then the music comes on and it is George Bush telling us that this is not a time to quibble, telling us it is a New World Order, and we must OBEY!  YEAH RIGHT!  We found him, and the girls go into the audience and drag him on stage, we beat him up for information, and we strip him down, only to find that secretly he is one of us too!  GW Bush clad in go go boots, fishnets, hotpants and a leather harness oh my!  We salute, and begin our war of blacklight paint from grenade balloons water guns and squirt canteens, untill the atomic bomb is dropped and we all die.  We resurrect one last time when taps plays (except GW who is bound and gagged) to present the Property Project banner to the audience and then drag Bush off stage and take our leave.

PARENTS:  there is a PG-13 rating on this show, and it has been discussed and we recommend this show (the property project section ONLY) for a 14/16+ audience.  This is due to the fact that there are some adult themes in the show.  However the following ARE NOT present: Nudity (there is 0 nudity of any kind), sexual activity or suggestion is NOT present, violence (there is stage combat, no gore).  Please email us for more information or if you would like to know the times of each performance we would be happy to oblige you, also you may of course COME TO THE SHOW YOURSELF, there is no information better than personal experience, and there is a message that this show puts forth that your teenager could greatly benefit from!
